On Tuesday October 23, 2007, Take Action Hollywood launched its “Take Action One Cup” competition at Providence High School in Burbank, CA.

With an impassioned speech about the importance of dedication and everyone’s ability to achieve the seemingly impossible through hard work and focus, Maria Menounos announced that Take Action Hollywood has partnered with Channel One News, the premier news and content provider for teens, and revamped its community service competition. 

The “Take Action-One Cup” will be an annual competition designed to empower students and communities nationwide. Groups of students, each from middle and high schools around the country, will compete in their efforts identify a problem in their community and devise and implement and creative and impactful solution. The group of students that exhibit the greatest amount of creativity, dedication and impact in their efforts as judged by both their peers, through viral online voting and campaigning, and by a panel of academics, experienced pro-social activists and celebrities, will be awarded the “Take Action One Cup”, Channel One News and “Take Action Hollywood’s!” most prestigious honor, among many other prizes.
